| 2008 TV Wishlist: An End To The Writers' Strike, A Proper Ending For ...
The new year is usually a time of reflection and resolutions. Instead of reflecting on the past TV season, we make the following wishes for the coming year, some more attainable than others. 1.) An end to the writers' strike - More than anything, let's hope that 2008 brings an end to the writers' strike with a resolution that satisfies everyone's demands. Most of this season's shows are already out of new episodes, and midseason entries like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles aren't far behind (the show will run out of new episodes March 3). Lost (premiering Jan. 31) will be cut off after eight episodes. What about Ned the Piemaker, Katherine's big secret on Desperate Housewives and Heroes: Volume III (a.k.a. You Were Right, We Were Wrong)? Their fates remain unknown as long as the strike continues.
School Overseas Targets Sagging Pants
Sagging pants might be an issue in some parts of the U.S., but others across the world are jumping on the bandwagon as well. The latest place to try to minister fashion standards on the youth is a school in Stockholm, Sweden, who recently mailed out letters to parents demanding that students pull up their pants. At stermalmsskolan, a school in one of Stockholm's most exclusive neighborhoods declared that displaying rear cleavage as a result of low sagging pants is out of order. "Lots of people think hanging pants don't look nice, and this is actually the children's place of work. It's not terribly hygienic either," Agneta Zetterstrm, headmistress at the school, to local paper stermalmsnytt. Despite the schools' concerns, some parents don't feel the issue is important.
Clinton wins in Nevada
Hillary Clinton has won the Democratic caucuses in Nevada according to projections. The former First Lady built on her success in New Hampshire as she beat Barack Obama as voters attended caucuses across Nevada, from casinos on the Las Vegas Strip to cowboy bars. Earlier, Mormon Mitt Romney won the state's Republican caucuses. Romney's victory came on the back of his win in the Michigan primary election earlier this week. But the majority of the Republican presidential hopefuls were focusing their attention on South Carolina, which holds the first-in-the-south primary election. .
